At first, I wanted a rustic kind of look (because of my favourite blue-grey yarn which I have lots of) but I changed my mind and covered it all up with fabric, lace and flowers. I also made a small scissor case and attached it to one corner (because I am forever losing my scissors!). Now I have a small, pretty and handy sewing basket!
This blog is specially for my Mother to showcase her lovely craftwork and projects! :D She likes to make pretty and functional (wherever possible) projects for the home and gifts for relatives and friends! :) Please check out her other pages at: Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/yuzujuice/our-own-creations/ Instagram Page at https://www.instagram.com/yuzujuice_crafts/

From Rack... to Sewing Basket! :D
Had a small, round metal rack from my old oven. At first, I tried to use it as a small shelf but it wasn't very good because of its spindly legs. I actually intended to throw it away but decided, at the last minute, to try something new. Here's what I did! :)
Hope you will all have a very crafty and wonderful weekend ahead! :)

Handmade Biscornu Pincushions
Wanted to make biscornu pincushions for ages and have now finally finished!
All made from my load of fabric scraps and remnant materials. Got the inspiration and pattern instructions off Pinterest. Had a lot of fun making and decorating them.
My basket load of biscornu pincushions!
Close up look
Wishing everyone a very happy and crafty week ahead. :)

Hangers
Had a bunch of wire hangers hanging around the dark cupboard for a long time. Bought them for hanging my daughters' clothes but they turned out too small.
Anyway, finally found some uses for them- Decorating! :D
Here are some of my designs:
Sadly, these prettified hangers are STILL too small for hanging clothes, so I made a hanging pocket (with one of them) for my youngest daughter.
Will probably make more such pockets with the other hangers.
Have a great weekend ahead! :)

Spring Cleaning - Part 3 and Final
Look what I found!
I have been looking for these 3 spools of thread for ages! They belong to an old overlock machine which have long been kaput!
When I found these during the spring cleaning, I was just so happy. But they were dusty and a little stained from the years of "hiding" (wrapped in a plastic bag and forgotten !). Decided that they needed a little makeover. The top spool was the original.
This is the final result - I think they look sweet. Now I don't have to buy white thread for a long time to come. For convenience, I also made a small pincushion as the flower centre. My eldest sister came for a visit and she took the red one so now I am left with the other 2.
Also found lost bags of scrap fabrics, lace and several zippers.
Decided to make cute macaroon purses - learnt to do this from a tutorial in my "Handy Tutorial" pinterest board.
Wanted to try patchwork for some time so it was a good opportunity to try to make some patchwork table mats. These 2 are my very first patchwork projects. Will definitely try to make some more later.

Well, that's all for the spring cleaning project. Found some other (long lost) things as well. Will show them when I am finished with their makeover.
In the meantime, wishing all my dear readers, Happy Crafting and a wonderful week ahead! Cheers!!!

Spring Cleaning (Part 2)
Really enjoyed myself and had a lot of fun altering those little containers and stuff that we dug out of the spring cleaning project. Here's some of the things I have completed recently.
These are toilet tissue holders which we got quite some time ago when we thought it would be more economical and wiser than using soft tissues. Boy, were we wrong - it's really inconvenient to use! So I have turned them into cute little containers to hold pens, brushes and stuff.
An old mug made into a small small bouquet holder.
An old biscuit tin, also made into a bouquet holder.
An old trinket box (something wrong with the hinge and cannot close) made into a pincushion.
Found a 4" styrofoam block (probably leftover from my girls' school project). Couldn't think what to do with it (and such a waste to just throw away) so made it into a pincushion too!
Since I like collecting pretty pictures of vintage ladies (all the above can be found in in my Pinterest board "Printing Ideas"), I decided to use as many as I could for these little projects.
Have a happy day, dear readers!! :)

Spring Cleaning (Part 1)
It's that time of the year for spring cleaning! ...again....
It is taking longer than usual because first, I've got spine problems and second, a lot of distraction.
Got rid of a desk and small shelf but the drawers were still in good condition so decided to re-use them again. One thing led to another, which led to some delay in the spring cleaning program but I still like how the drawers came out.

Before the change ......
This was from the desk drawer and it is a little smaller than those from the shelf. Used remnants and scrap fabrics to cover the box. Then made a flower from fabric and lace scraps and finally glued on a little bear which my daughters had outgrown. Using this to hold newspapers.
I like to collect pretty images of vintage ladies (in my Pinterest "Printing Ideas" board) so I decided to use some of the pictures for the 2 drawers as well as on my storage containers (old plastic biscuits and snacks containers with lids) These are used for my craft stuff.
Our spring cleaning program is still underway - just because I got side tracked but can't be helped, I've found some more old containers and baskets which need to have a makeover first. And so, it continues ..... :)

Recent Altered Projects
When I am free and have a little time to do some crafting, I like to make small projects (like those appended below) with things that we have lying about the house. These projects are quite fun to do. :)
Had an old photo frame which was destined for the dust-bin because my youngest daughter accidentally broke it. However, after some "repairs" (consisting mainly of hot glue and masking tape), I managed to turn it into a pretty pincushion. It's really handy because I can put a lot of pins on it! :)
Found a nice round piece of thick cardboard which I turned into a frame to hold scissors and also doubles up as a pincushion when necessary! :)
Got a couple of 2 inch square foam blocks leftover from previous school projects so decided to decorate them for fun. They came out so cute and gave them to each of my girls. :)
Had a tea party some time ago and had a few of these small paper plates leftover so decided to make small signboards with them. :)
Hope these little crafts will give you, dear readers, some inspiration to reuse and recycle! :D
