Spring Cleaning - Part 3 and Final

Look what I found!
I have been looking for these 3 spools of thread for ages! They belong to an old overlock machine which have long been kaput!

When I found these during the spring cleaning, I was just so happy. But they were dusty and a little stained from the years of "hiding" (wrapped in a plastic bag and forgotten !). Decided that they needed a little makeover. The top spool was the original.

This is the final result - I think they look sweet. Now I don't have to buy white thread for a long time to come. For convenience, I also made a small pincushion as the flower centre. My eldest sister came for a visit and she took the red one so now I am left with the other 2.

Also found lost bags of scrap fabrics, lace and several zippers.

Decided to make cute macaroon purses - learnt to do this from a tutorial in my "Handy Tutorial" pinterest board.

Wanted to try patchwork for some time so it was a good opportunity to try to make some patchwork table mats. These 2 are my very first patchwork projects. Will definitely try to make some more later.

Well, that's all for the spring cleaning project. Found some other (long lost) things as well. Will show them when I am finished with their makeover.

In the meantime, wishing all my dear readers, Happy Crafting and a wonderful week ahead!  Cheers!!!

Spring Cleaning (Part 2)

Really enjoyed myself and had a lot of fun altering those little containers and stuff that we dug out of the spring cleaning project.  Here's some of the things I have completed recently.

These are toilet tissue holders which we got quite some time ago when we thought it would be more economical and wiser than using soft tissues.  Boy, were we wrong - it's really inconvenient to use!  So I have turned them into cute little containers to hold pens, brushes and stuff.

An old mug made into a small small bouquet holder.

An old biscuit tin, also made into a bouquet holder.

An old trinket box (something wrong with the hinge and cannot close) made into a pincushion.

Found a 4" styrofoam block (probably leftover from my girls' school project).  Couldn't think what to do with it (and such a waste to just throw away) so made it into a pincushion too!

Since I like collecting pretty pictures of vintage ladies (all the above can be found in in my Pinterest board "Printing Ideas"), I decided to use as many as I could for these little projects.

Have a happy day, dear readers!! :)

Spring Cleaning (Part 1)

It's that time of the year for spring cleaning! ...again....
It is taking longer than usual because first, I've got spine problems and second, a lot of distraction.

Got rid of a desk and small shelf but the drawers were still in good condition so decided to re-use them again. One thing led to another, which led to some delay in the spring cleaning program but I still like how the drawers came out.

Before the change ......

This was from the desk drawer and it is a little smaller than those from the shelf. Used remnants and scrap fabrics to cover the box. Then made a flower from fabric and lace scraps and finally glued on a little bear which my daughters had outgrown. Using this to hold newspapers.

I like to collect pretty images of vintage ladies (in my Pinterest "Printing Ideas" board) so I decided to use some of the pictures for the 2 drawers as well as on my storage containers (old plastic biscuits and snacks containers with lids)  These are used for my craft stuff.

Our spring cleaning program is still underway - just because I got side tracked but can't be helped, I've found some more old containers and baskets which need to have a makeover first.  And so, it continues ..... :)
